I don't think it is.
I have a 4m RIB and my mate has a 4.5m RIB, he's does seem alot bigger. 85cm is a good bit more boat.

the 585 is big enough ,anything bigger and the car will struggle on slips etc, i have seen a couple but i will continue to use it as it is such fun until its sold.

Since selling my old Searider 5.4 I couldn't live without my boat so I just put my order in for a new Ribcraft 5.0 all in black. Thanks to Matt H for his valuable critique of the boat and to Jason Purvey at Ribcraft for his very professional service.....even when it seemed I'd never make up my mind on what I wanted!
Have sourced a lightly used Yamaha 90 two stroke I'm now turning my attention to the steering gear and prop spec. Any pointers on these two issues would be gratefully appreciated dear ribnetters!

Congrats, great Boat and youl have a load of fun, i ran a 13.25 x 19 pitch on mine which gave me 42knots.. im not sure you could ask for much more, reference steering. i ended up using a teleflex Bit T helm as is very light to operate with out the extra weight of going hydraulic.
Hope you keep the pics coming!

Thanks Matt, is the hydraulic really that much more heavy?
Must confess I'm rather confused on the prop selection bit. I take it stainless steel would be preferable, the 13.25" is constant but you can play with the 19"? I see some four bladed and "high performance" props on the web, are these worth a look?

only a few kilos heavier really, but the deciding factor was it really neccesary, when i swapped to the different helm it made all the difference. now im in the same quandry at the moment, i have a brand new Hyd system sitting on the bench and the boat has a Heavy duty helm as before, do i fit it? or carry on with existing and as the engine is so light am i really going to notice that much difference, its really down to your personal preferece!
with ref to props, i tried 3 variants, 17 pitch stainless, 19 pitch ally which was the best all rounder, revved to 5500 (or its max rev for a 90 two stroke) and 41 42 knots and lastly i tried a 12.5 x20 pitch, and that one broke out more ofter and would not rev to its maximum, the winner for me was the 13.25x19 by a long shot

depends what for. an ally prop will hopefully just bend if you hit the bottom. a stainless one will transfer all the force to the gearbox which won't be so good.

I also have the 5.0 thanks to Matt, it is a wonderful boat. But all extra weight must be considered. and 10 kg extra makes the difference. I've a 60 hp Yam of 110kg, and will now put the DF 90 suzuki on it, because the 60 yam is to forceless.
But for the hydraulics I'm not sure what weighs most, the hydraulics of a traditional steering cable. I must say the comfort of the hydraulic is enormous , and the stainless A-frame at the back is a must for your boat look
