my new toy! 5.4 Searider

Its covered in antifoul and need of a good jetwash but is really quite sound, and I'm very happy, its an ex saftey boat which was initally owned by the environment agency - had too muck about with trailer settings to get it sat on correctly, thank god for WD40 and big hammers!

many more questions coming, first being whether to reinstate flooding hull bearing in mind I'll initially be using my 2 stroke yamaha 60, any opinions or experinence im all ears!!

Congratulations Olly. Look forward to seeing you about in the Solent.

Is that the trailer you used for the SR4?

Makes your Subaru look small. I see it's in the standard Battleship grey

What sort of time scale we looking at to get her all ship shape?

That's the spirit, if you want any help with stuff, let me know?

I have the cable steering and helm from Kohaku if you have need for it. Was working fine when I took it off a couple of years ago and has been gathering dust ever since, might be more suitable than the SR4 because of the longer length of the morse cable. Free to you, if you want it!

Might I make a suggestion? If you're going to upgrade the console, do it now. Before all the gauges etc go in.

Well done Olly! If its the same boat I was watching on ebay then I reckon youve got a snip as there was loads of interest in it. Ofcourse not everyone wants to buy a boat without a trailer but as youve managed to make it happen it should surely pay off.

I think youve got the right idea getting out and using it while the sun is shining and worry about doing it up later:-) Ive got my wee sr4 resto on the go just now and know how long it takes to get all the bits together!

that 4.7 you pointed out looks quite tasty but obviously needs abit of work too - I reckon it will probably go for funny money as its quite a desirable boat as you probably know.

Cheers

Graham

Cool!

I'd leave the flooding hull blocked- the pickup with the hull blocked is far better.

probably around aroud 27mpg i'd say, I do drive in sensibly though and do regular 6 monthly oil changes with synthetic mobil 1 oil as stated in the service book, it doesnt ask for much really, its never missed a beat and I love it - get one and when you do want a rag its great fun! AWD too and removeable towbar - I've upset a boxster owner and a lot of other muppets that give you grief in much more expensive cars

theres alot of imports in the uk now, bit harder to insure as there more powerfull generally, mines a UK Turbo 2000 with a CAT1 installed from the factory, group 17,

You always go for the sport which looks the same just a 2 litre without the turbo and selectable AWD, turbo's as fixed

drop me a PM if you want any advice
