Names and rumours.

Does anyone know if I can name my boat (Register it/SSR Etc) using the Greek alphabet?

Grr.... was trying to insert Greek script, but canna do it!

So for those in the know, I want to use two letters Pi and Eta as my boat name. Any comments? ......on legality that is...

Also heard a rumour that Suzuki 250 engines are due soon. Any confirmation?

Cheers Jono (The imposter)

Suzuki have a delivery this month, whoopee!!!

I have heard they are bringing more engines in than they have orders for, and have been asking dealers if they want more than they have an order placed for. Chance of big discounts maybe.

Jono, what's delivery date for your rib?

I believe the only restrictions on vessel names are that they should not sound like, or could be confused with radio pro-words such as Mayday, Panpan, etc.

But please keep in mind, that you are not the only one who has to use the name of your vessel.

When your shore contact phones the coastguard to report you overdue, what are they supposed to type in to do a log search, or check with the ITU for your vessel details.

Ginger - Thanks for the advice and as I am fairly sure that the coasties won't have ancient Greek keyboards it's back to the drawing board on the name front....

Ian - Not yet, have just left a message for Sue at Humber... will advise...
