Narwhal 4.7
Had a look at this yesterday evening, what do you think of the Rib ? The engine is all good just not sure on the Rib after reading on the forum, it looks like it’s been re tubed, some of the grab handles are coming apart and some of the glued seams are also separating

If its tubed in hypalon and the material is good the odd lifting seam isnt a big deal but it could be polyeurothane in which case id be more concerned
My first thing would be find out the tube material.

That is an absolute bargain I have a Narwhal 4.5 and it is an excellent rib I have a 60 mariner on mine but it goes very well.
Don't be concerned about all the nonsense talked about between Hypalon or other materials. Most people have no idea what they have and that rib looks in very good condition. I would buy that quickly before someone else snaps it up.
If you snooze you loose

What "nonsense" advice, ofcourse it matters what the material is. If it has been freshly retubed and bits are falling off it and seam failure is evident then the cheap boat isn't so cheap anymore if it gets worse. What material it is will dictate how easy or difficult the repair could end up being or costing to have done.

Excellent move you will not regret it. If you want any further advice from someone who has a very similar boat and engine I will be happy to help

I am afraid the whole Hypalon v other materials and the assumption that Hypalon is the best is what is both bad and outdated advice.
That rib was a bargain expecting it to be in tip top condition is what is stupid..... You carry on dreaming about your hypalon and spouting cliché advice

Show me where I said hypalon is better please?
I assume you have proof what the pros and cons of each are to be making such claims? Be glad to read your factual evidence on it.....Or are you just dreaming about PVC and spouting cliche advice?
The rib is a decent buy I agree....if the tubes are okay and only small glue problems then happy days.
No one claimed it was in tip top condition nor had to be, spouting cliche advice again?

Doesn't look like you can go wrong there based on the pics, the retube must have cost that, enjoy

For once I have to agree with Xk59D if the boat is hypalon with a few loose seams then fine its easy to fix
If its polyeurothane and the seams are starting to come apart then its potentialy going to need a retube.
Our sailing club had a polyeurothane boat which started with a few lifted joints at 5 years old and within two seasons when the boat was 7 years old the tubes litteraly fell apart. You could lift every seam on the top of the tubes and just peel them apart.
So Xk59D was right it makes a big diferance.
Modern welded pu is as good as hypalon and in some ways better but older glued pu boats need a little caution.
Otherwise id agree its a cheap boat for the money

Cheers, from my limited knowledge of Rib materials I’m fairly confident it is hypalon, there are sections I could see the back of the material. And from the link provided it’s hypalon. When I get it I’ll post some pictures of the tube material.
Does anyone know where and if Narwhal put serial no’s on there hulls

Just for bigplumbs info take a look here as you clearly dont think there is any cause for concern
http://www.rib.net/forum/showthread.php?t=74748
Whiskylee prety straightforward if you can lift a section but better to be safe than sorry as you can see from the link things can get serious with a pu boat

Hypalon and pu look very similar even side by side. Pu tends to get scratches and cuts rather than abrasions and scuffs, the surface is actualy harder wearing and a bit more shiny and slippy
Hypalon tends to be more dull and rubber like
If you look at the link I posted you will see it looks very similar.
