Nautical / Marine Items in da House!!!

I made a deal with the missus that I can get a newer boat in 2014 provided that I decorated some rooms within our chateaux and as the weather is crap I have been doing this over xmas holidays. Now the rooms are decorated we have had to go round the usual shops (next home, m & s home, etc) and was surprised of the number of nautical / marine items that are now home fashion for example porthole mirrors, model lighthouses for bathrooms, knotted rope balls (don't know marine name and usage) as door stops etc, etc.

So I was wondering what recycled / refurbished, nautical / marine items have ribnobbers got as essential decor in da house?

Errr <cough> I had the entire guts of the Ballistic in my living room for over a year.

I wouldn't recommend it but there is a certain je ne sais quois about having structurescan next to the PC.

Originally used to allow greater distance when throwing a rope.

Sad huh!

My gun room walls used to be draped in gun slips, slings, stags heads, cartridge bags and belts etc, its now draped in drysuits, LJs, dry bags and waterproofs.

I need to build myself another room.

I'm all for nautical items in the house, but there's a danger in can turn into a set from Pirates of the Caribbean! Simple things like driftwood or Japanese glass floats (get washed up in BC) are the business.

Some amazing interiors here: http://www.houzz.com/Boat-Inspired-Ceiling

Too much?

I have a lot of nautical tat lying around the house - brass bits, shells, telescopes, flotsam, donegaldan...

I really must get these cleaned up and on a wall (does anyone here know exactly what they are/were for 'cos I don't!)

I've got some quite nice brass shell heads as door stops.
I think I've removed all the combustibles
