Need hydraulic hose ends fitted - recommendations (Southampton)?
The title says it all really. I need to get new ends put on two hydraulic steering hoses where the thieves cut them off (fortunately they cut right at the end so plenty of hose left). Can anyone recommend anywhere in the Southampton area?

Tim, make sure you get the correct thread on the fitting, a lot of the American stuff is NPT which is similar to, but just not quite BSP.

As good as Aquafax are, you won't get steering hose ends fitted by them.
What make of steering do you have? If it's seastar, then you can buy reuseable ends that you can fit yourself. Otherwise, it's a case of removing hoses, and having new ones swaged on.

Yeh, but I don't think they have the ability to fit them for you.

Yes, I'm sure they could.
bit of confusion on my part, as you described it as an "old style crimp type end", where's as that's a "re-useable". I suspect that'll only work with their hose though, which'll be fine if that's the steering Tim is using.
If he's using Seastar then a similar fitting is available. From memory it's a 3/8ths compression fitting, with a 9/16 extra fine thread, possibly 24 tpi

If the hose ends were swaged on then you might struggle to find a company willing to re-end it. A lot of company's will now not re-swage fittings onto old hose. They will probably insist on new hose to be supplied.
We've tried all the bigger hydraulic company's in the southampton area but for the last 4 years have stuck with Hyphose. We put a considerable amount of money through them each year.
If you do need to speak to Hyphose tell them i ( Simon from Ostensjo/Solent Towage) sent you and I'm sure they will sort you out.

I am sure you have plenty of options by now, but Air and Hydraulic Hose Services in Swanmore could help. I worked for this company back in the '80's and bespoke/one off jobs were no problem.
