New A Frame Time?
I've got this one that came with the boat,(top picture) it wasn’t fitted at this time, just stood up in the boat – its quite flimsy and I cannot work out how it fits or fitted to the boat, its also got a slight kink in it as well not a great problem for
some one who knows what they’re doing - I've seen one other searider with the same
frame fitted but not had a good look how it does, what with mine only being a 4metre this
one takes a lot of room when offered up and held by some in the boat, I think
I'd rather just move this one on and get a nice thick single stainless one made up, that maybe spills over the back of the tubes like one “roguewave has!” that doesnt take up as much internal space, sorry i know I’m waffling a bit here,
Anyone got anything please they could sell me or can recommend a good stainless steel fabricator, preferably local in Portsmouth area? –
I'll either flog the old one on ebay or let it go really really cheap to someone on here that could use it
Many thanks in advance !

There is a couple of people who's numbers I can give you I;ll find em out and post them tomorrow.
A guy called Robin in portssmouth/Fareham is a good fabricator and works.
Another guy in Portsmouth called Mark Brown who is a good fabricator and also knows ribs really well he is fareham based as well
In Southampton there is Gordon Compton at Drivers Wharf and Quay Fabrication and Welding. I am off to sea for a few days but I will dig out the numbers as soon as I get back.
I's be interested in your old frame, send me a PM with a price please. as I am restoring an old Searider

Thanks mate, I'd really be grateful, you can have it for a tenner if you dont mind coming to get it - dont forget there is that slight kink I was on about - you have to look quite hard to see it though, I really do think a single thick tube shaped over the tubes would be great for mine being a small as it is, to save deck space -

Olly
A company I've used for Alloy and Stainless welding that's been too much for my own gear is Task Welding, just off Limberline road in Hilsea.
They make a few bits and pieces for boats as the owner and foreman there are both into boats themselves. I seem to remember the Owner had a +7M RIB about 18 months ago.
They may not be the cheapest, but work very quickly to a very high standard.
Unfortunatly I can't give you a number as their card is in my car and I'm in the business lounge at Heathrow waiting for a delayed flight to Dussledorf.
When's that boat going in the water?
Good luck
Nasher

Only one I can think of Olly is Carisbrook SS fabricators, up the High street in Fareham. That's where I get all my Stainless from. You'll be looking for 40mm diameter tubing?
Zippy wants an A frame as well, perhaps when you find someone, you'll get it cheaper if you get two made at the same time. PM him and mention me.
Andy

Ta (that's very reasonable and I owe you a favour, the good news I am very good at paying em back!)
Nasher has quite high standards re engineering so it may well be worth looking at his guy also.
The tug I work on is based at Langstone harbour and I'll be there at high tides tomorrow Therefore will be in Pompey from 1500 hrs. My number is 07774401963 give me a call and we can sort it out.
Mark Browns number is 0773321606

Olly
Go for the biggest Diameter tube you can with the beefiest mounting points that will fit. I'd suggest 50mm is about right without looking too Fat.
You never know when you will want to hang off it etc so the stronger the better.
I'm not that keen, just taking advantage of the free internet access whilst waiting for my delayed flight. Its a distraction form all the well dressed young Buisness ladies.
Nasher.

Would like a double a frame as i will be mounting lights, Nav + spot light eventualy and proberby a GPS antenna and radio aerial.
I really havent looked at whats about and prices yet so what any info in figures would be appreciated.
I also like the look of the a frame (thing it was Rogue Wave's) that bends round the tubes. very cool!

The only orange rib I have has an Orange a frame, that's a nice A frame lots of room to work on the engine if you need to!

humm..
seems like a case of mistaken identity! if anyone has any photos of how A frames are attached to transom / deck they would be greatly apreciated.

I can second the the recommendation of Carisbrooke at Fareham, (01329 823535). They made the small single tube "A" frame and Jockey back rest for my Avon. Will get some piccy's when i get my camera back from my sister. They also do the tube work for Lee at Solent Rib's. Wasn't as quick as I had hoped, but the price was right..

Carisbrook, great place!!
Zippy, if you want a pattern and in ,my area come on over to my place and measure my A frame on the Deepsea. Its only a single and it only bolts onto the transom, very tough and I'd be happy to swing around on it in a F8. Has all my nav lights, gps and vhf hanging on it! Could show you the dash and screen I've made for the consol at the same time.

Guys
I have seen a few seariders that have had A frames or bracing bars added to the deck area in front of the transom. They had used too small a foot print to attach to the deck and the resin around the pad has broken up.
Hence can I suggest that if you are spec'ng this yourself that you make the locating pads large to spred the load and even glass in a reinforcing pad.
Have fun
Jelly
