New cabin RIB for less than 20k?

Without an engine I guess so. But you'd probably have to do a certain amount of self-build. I doubt anything less than 7.5m would be worth having with a cabin.

Thanks guys, I suspected so but have been asked to find one for a customer and wanted to be sure I was not jumping to conclusions.

The Redbay 6.5 wraparound is perhaps the closest to a anything with any kind of shelter.

Perhaps the quest should be for a RIB with "some cover" for under 20k....

You could find a hull manufacturer to make you a hull and fit a console say from Windsor marine that would give you the option of a small cabin, provided the hull suppliers was prepared to fit the console and leave a hole though the deck inside the console to provide enough of a useful cabin.

It might be feasable to get the hull tubes and cabin for less than 20k but I think you'll be looking at a 7.5m rib as a minimum length.

I would have thought it was usefull to talk to the Windsor Bros, Osprey or Shakespeare for costs etc.

Does the 20k include the motor? (I'm assuming nothing as boring as VAT is involved )

It would be nice if there was some change to put toward a motor, but this is a nearest the bull exercise rather than a strict budget.

i think your customer is trying to wind you up, it would cost me more than that to lay one up and build for myself, if you took flat wages, materials, tubes that's you're money gone, to build a cabin rib like mine is about 1500 man hours from scratch, that includes up's, stainless, rigging, teak, etc

Well they have to do something to pass the time on these cold winter nights!

Personally I am thinking of something with just a bit of shelter and dry storage, like a Redbay wraparound with a roof perhaps. The full-on cabin idea is a non starter.

maybe go the route hightower suggested, that ocean console is large, i can't believe they still have it, i did the plug for that about 10 years ago, they must have retooled it by now, you could look for a largeish rib and get a console, i say large because the console is about 1200mm wide, chubby has one of my moulds (that he's had for age's) for a console and he's put a bit on the front of his so he can get in it (he's a BIG lad), you could do a bimini with screen and clip on side panels and you'll have more than enough cover, done the job for yer! where's the dosh!

Has the client ruled out a Redbay Fashfisher rib, 6.1 or 6.5? Admittedly they're plug ugly but it's a full cabin. Should get change out of £20k exVAT

We've just schemed out a cuddy for the Eco XR24, to meet a customer's requirement. Needless to say, we can't do it for less than £20k, but it would be very competitive. We're not planning to build it unless a customer asks for it, so its not on our website www.eco-marine.co.uk

What do you think about the look? Comments appreciated (well nice comments anyway...)

my opinion would be, mmm, i know how narrow those boats are and i might think that it would be a bit unbalanced with all that up front, if you could make it longer with the helm nearer the back of the enclosure may balance it better, my thought's are start with a hull with more displacement to get a fighting chance, you could fill the front in like a sports boat and get under the dash so to speak for sleeping that way the weight wouldn't be forward untill you were in there
