New Etec ... service/warranty requirements

I think I read on here that despite the large time frame for warranty .. its dependent in dealer inspections after a certain time ? can anyone confirm what these are ? .. I have 'RTFM' but it didnt seem obvious TIA

my first service was 3 years as per the blurb, no dealer inspection or other contact with the dealer prior to that. I had a warranty claim for a gauge at about 2 years without any quibble. No one ever mentioned an annual dealer visit when I bought the engines. I think a lot depends on the dealer. Evinrude introduced the auto winterisation feature to reduce dealer visits. I'd ask your dealer in case things have changed.

I think the annual inspection rumour was put about by 4 stroke dealers Mainly residing north of the border.............in the west..........on a big river.........that sold a certain engine from the far east.......he isn't around much anymore........shame as he was {a} good sport

3 year or 300 hours. before any dealer maintenance is required. Of course it in your interest to get the grease gun and oil can out on a regular basis. The only thing likely to need changing over the 3 years is a set of plugs if you are running up 150 hour plus. I would also change the onboard fuel filter every year as a precaution. I also tend to remove the bolts (one at a time) that hold the gearcase onto the leg and give them a greasing every year. After three years they can be a bugger to remove.

Yup same - 3 years or 300 hours whichever is first before anything is required. I had a trim relay (i think) intermittent fault when cold after about 1 year and a chap was sent to replace it without any quibble.
