New GoPro Hero 2 ordered

Hoping my new Gopro Hero 2 will show up in time for the weekend. Planning on going out to watch some of the Round the Island. It should be a good test for it.

Got the ok from SWMBO to buy a go-pro.
Where's the best place to get it, or is it a google search to find the best price?

I've got mine from DogCamSport. Certainly not the cheapest but they're excellent for advice and help

I started off Googling, then had a look at Fleabay, but notice they were offering European and US versions, I don't know whether there are any fundamantal differences between the EU and US models, but remember the hassle with videos, so decided not to risk a US model. I spoke to DogCam who were very helpful, but they were not that good on price and didn't have all the bits I wanted in stock (primarily the wi fi combo unit). I ended up buying from Amazon. Prices were competitive and I managed to order everything I wanted and hopefully it will all be here in time for the weekend.
I have attached the sellers and prices, if it helps:

This is next on my list of things to get as I have been very impressed by pics taken by Poole Sea Safari rear facing one- especially when set to a picture every 60 secs.

I think it should get some good shots from my A-frame !

I'm not sure why there'd be US and Euro versions other than for the 110/240 charger plug. The video output format - PAL v NTSC - is user selectable.

I brought a new Hero 2 version along with the wi-fi bac pac and remote control the other day. Used it yesterday for the first time on the boat. Despite it being foggy at Dartmouth it proved excellent quality and am generally very impressed. My only 2 gripes with it are that the roll bar mounts have to be done up very very tight else it will move when the boat gets lively and second once it has rain on the lens it seems to hang there if that makes any sense?

The instructions do say to apply rainex or something similar. Will try that next.

In answer to the above question I just use the free go pro cine editing software on their site. You need to use it anyway when downloading the software updates.

I have a GoPro Hero and used it a lot with MAC iMovie. Very quick and easy to use. There are good tips on youtube but you can just give it a go with good results.

Cheers! I'd missed that and just found it - following your comment - in the instruction book. I'd previously dismissed it as the Rainx website says do not use on curved plastic surfaces as it may induce stress cracks.

Camera,LCD display,Wi fi combo and some mounts have arrived (Next day delivery).
Just waiting for the floaty back, Card and some cables to show up. Looking good for the weekend.

I Like your Zapcat footage. Which angle of view were you using on when on the boat? I see it has 3 different options.

what do mean? the resolution or the actual mounts? it was filming at 960p 48fps. And i have 2 curved plates on my helmet, one on the side and another one the top. then theres one plate on the transom facing back which is the first shot of the boat going along. then i have a mount on the engine hood facing back & forward, one on the tiller....& then lastly one on the co-pilot helmet and one on the nose cone! .....theres even an 8th mount at the back of the engine looking down at the prop! just a few mount haha.

& yes! they're so worth it! definatly not a pleasure boat but amazing fun. you can take them any sea conditions anywhere & at top speed basically all the way!

According to the blurb, there is a choice of 70, 127 and 90 degrees Field Of View. I wondered what you had yours set at as it looked about right?

HD HERO2 Professional
1080p | 960p | 720p |
WVGA 120 | 60 | 48 | 30 FPS
11 Mega Pixel
110 Photos/sec
70° | 127° | 90° FOV

I agree about fancying a Zapcat, they do look fun!

There is a difference of £60 between the Hero2 Motorsports and the Hero2 Outdoors edition. Is it the same camera with different mounts or am I missing something?

110 photos/sec in photo burst is 10 photos/sec
In HD PAL video mode it's 25fps...the manual assumes NTSC @30fps, the default mode :roll eyes:
Can't find a reference to 90º FOV?
