New guy with some questions... Zefir RIB

Good morning everyone, just a new guy here from Miami, Florida. I just purchased a new to me RIB, actually my first one. It is a Zefir 420STD. Does anyone have any information about this boat brand? It appears to be a 4.2m, hard bottom. I believe it was manufactured in Brazil in 2003. If anyone has any information that they can share with me about the Zefir brand i would appreciate it. Thanks for your time. Can't wait to get this thing out on to the water.

Hi and welcome to our modest forum.

Over here people usually first ask and then buy but it seems that across the pond you do it the other way round. Best now enjoy what you have , post some photos in the gallery and let us know how you are getting on.

welcome to the World of ribbing

The only information I found was from the manufacturer, it is selling for $6000USD for the 4.2 model in brazil. I bought this one for the price of a couple restaurant visits. It seems to hold air just fine. I already own a boat and a jet ski, this is just something to play with so I guess I'm not really looking for the best.

While I have you here, do you think a 15HP motor will be adequate just to cruise around the water ways?

Can't help with any brand info.

When I was beginning my search for a RIB (about 6 years ago) I noticed a bunch of relatively new South American companies that were turning out RIBs. Brazil, Argentina, I think one in Chile; they seemed to be popping up like electronics plants in China.

Kind of lost the pulse on what was happening there after I decided on, and bought, my RIB.

A quick web search showed this first:
http://rib.net/forum/showthread.php?t=28634

Couldn't find a manufacturer's page, sorry.

Thank you guys for the link and the information so far. Not looking for anything fast, just fuel efficiency and quiet cruising. Just to get out onto the water in a rib sounds like alot of fun for me. I have never been on one.

Here's a link for your boat at the manufacturer's web site - http://www.zefir.com.br/botes_caracteristicas_17.htm

I don't see an English version of the site but didn't look closely - however I think Google or other online sources can translate well enough to give you the basic info.....looks like a good boat.....
