New model Shearwater

Shearwater RIBs Cutter - 6.8M Offshore RIB - YouTube
We have been working on a new model over the last year, we have just finished some promotional pictures and video. I thought I would give Ribnet first look.
We call it the Shearwater Cutter (6.8M). As with all our boats we try to look at the design with a fresh pad.
With the new Vibration at work rules now an important issue for a commercial user (no doubt it will creep into leisure use before too long) we wanted to design a hull which would noticeably reduce the pounding normally experienced in day to day boating round the UK coast. The hull has a very fine entry, 24 degree V aft ,the V also becomes constant a little earlier than normal giving a little less lift. The result is a hull which is 2-3kn slower with an equivalent HP but you can achieve a higher average speed as it will cut through 1.5m wave with ease. Even Paul Lemmer was excited with the results.
With the new 150efi we reach 37kn, average fuel consumption 15L per hour. 200L under deck plastic fuel tank.
Decks are above water so self draining, no bilge pump needed, tubes float clear to avoid weed. All new console with lots of storage inside - wakeboard, boat hook etc no problem, Lots of storage in the bow lockers.
The the decks are fully molded, even the the engine cabling has been thought out so the back end looks immaculate. The client who owns this boat wanted the weekend lifeboat look, we are working on more seating so it can be family friendly, vast choice of colours.
Hope you like it.

Many thanks we made one for UKSA with a jockey console and delta rear seats which they are very happy with.

Looks great Jim. Is it another of Mike Ring's hulls or have you gone for something different this time?

We decided a while ago to go it alone, Mike gave us a great start for which we are very great full but the cost of mould production is so great we wanted to own the complete hull and deck. The last three boats Venture, Vis and the Cutter are all our design ( with technical support from two Island based design company's )

She's a handsome boat. Have you got plans to go down the cabin route with this one as you have in the past? looks like theres a fair sized space between the console and bow locker that might squeeze a small berth?

Have been asked but the bow is so fine I don't think we will have the buoyancy forward to carry the weight but you never know.

Thanks, around 1200kg spec dependant. The only wood in the build is the transom, rest is HD foam core.

Jim .. Very nice indeed..a refreshing new build and design. really like the raised grabrail moulding or whatever so the front passenger can easily hold on without having to stretch forward.also it looks commercial but leisure design thrown in, raked windscreen, side support on suicide seat etc etc..any plans for 5-6 mtr version?
