I know there must be lots of guys (and girls) that are used to this this kind of power, but for us it's really something.

Mean machine.

It's hard to tell from your photo, but the XR was a more bulbous hard nose than the the Lynx. Also, the XR had a groove on the top of the nose for a cleat fitting whereas the Lynx was a checkerplate plate effect in the gel.

Post a pic of the front.

Something like this ? So it must be a xr24 ?

There a few reasons why i would have a 2 stroke over a 4 stroke

* Its a race boats so you want good out of the hole shot power
* a power cycle every 1 up and down of the pistons instead of 1 power cycle every other up and down of the pistons like a 4 stroke
* awesome sounding motor
* the fuel economy is near the same now

Sparrowhawk re-furb

Hi guys

Where's the best place to source a new steering unit (cable etc), and two jockey seats for my Sparrowhawk.

It's looking a bit sad, and I've decided to cheer it up!

It seems to be the same shape except this nose is a bit wider and has a locker on the front.

We tested her for speed and came to a 90/95 km-ph.

Does anybody have any idea how big the fuel tank could be ? There no meter installed yet.

I could'nt find out yet how the ballasttank works. There's a long hose on top off the tank wich goes to the back of the boat/under the floor en is not in use.
There's A big hose on top of the tank wich goes to the nose.
And there a big hose on the bottom of the tank wich goes under the floor to the back af the boat uner the engine and comes out of the transom.

Where should the first hose be connected to ?

Dan.

Our fuel tank on the sea harrier max (7.4m) is 220 l. I know that there's also a bigger one available 350 l.

The 2 holes in the nose of ours are for the ballast tank. But it works differently than yours because ours is connected to a shower unit.

Petrov should be able to tell you more about yours. I think he has the same.

My water ballast is a salmon sport combined fill and dump. It operates off a 33c cable and in the fill position it drops into sea and scoops as I go along. When the tank is full the top vent on the tank (attached to an outlet on side of boat) blows water out of it so I know to shutoff the fill. Second position is hold, where the scoop moves up to close it off, third position is dump, the scoop in the highest position allows the outlet on the scoop to align with outlet on the bracket so the water can flow out with gravity.

Salmon sport also make stunning cast units (rnli use them on Atlantic’s) and the old Honda race boats used them. These have two pipes. One is a scoop which fills operated off a lever and then they use another outlet or a bilge pump to empty.

There are other combinations that use valves like toilets Cisterns to empty but I prefer the simplicity of mine. One pipe to bottom of tank, pipe fills when scoop down. Pipe doesn’t leak (too mucH) in hold and pipe allows gravity to work in dump. Downside is mine isn’t water tight, so it fills at rest a little and also it leaks a little in hold out the back of boat so needs the odd top up.

Only other plumbing is a vent pipe. Typically vents Should be twice the size of the fill hose to allow the pressure to be managed and to speed up fill and dump speeds. Osprey race boats typically used old school tanks, similar to mine.
