New RIB Magazine

A new magazine has appeared in the USA called "Inflatable Boats Magazine"
It is only on issue 3, and has 60 odd pages but having seen a couple of issues it might have the makings of a good magazine. Issue 3 has an extensive article on the "History of Inflatables" by Dag Pike

Just......

........emailed asking for further info on overseas rates and introducing them to the Forum with a request to post info here and offer discounted subscription rates for RIBnet members.

As hoped, I've........

.........just received a reply from the Managing Editor who advises she is already a ribnet member. $60 for the year - 6 issues. Sounds a little steep but when you make the conversion, it's only £31 or a fiver an issue. I think I'll have a dabble and let you know.

Hello all,

I am the Editor of Inflatable Boats Magazine. I am thrilled to see that you've received our magazine in the UK Christopher, if I may inquire- where did you find it?
just so I can call the person and thank them for having it around.

For anyone who is interested I am going to do a special for you guys. Because we are an independent magazine the cost of our subscriptions is usually the sum of the magazine plus shipping. For Rib.net members- its going to be just the cost of shipping.
So a one year (6 issues) subscription delivered outside the continental USA is only $60.
and this is by priority mail shipping which means you will receive your copy within a week of it coming out in the USA.

Just so you know
we are always looking for readers to share with us their stories and experiences- good and bad - with their inflatables, manufacturers, warranties, dealers etc.
So write to us and you just might see it in the next issue of Inflatable Boats Magazine.

Oh and if you've had some great adventure with your inflatable- we wanna read about that too.

Feel free to check out the website just keep in mind that we are constantly working on it, so if something doesn't work right the first time come back later and itll probably work.
Or better yet shoot us an email and let us know its not working, or what youd like to see on the site.

We're trying to make this magazine exactly what people want it to be, so your comments and suggestions are crucial .

Thank you guys again
feel free to email me personally at
erika@inflatableboatsmagazine.com

When you email us for a subscription make sure to metion that you are a rib.net member and include your user name so that we can give you the right price.

I look forward to hearing from you guys

Erika

Oh I forgot to add, today is one of those days ,
that all of us here at Inflatable Boats Magazine are Ribsters

I personally have never owned a complete fiberglass boat and doubt I ever will. Theres a photo of me at the age of 5 or so sleeping in a BAT inflatable when I lived in Italy.

I guess what I am trying to say is that we are mainly boaters who decided to do what noone else in the USA was willing to do.
So feel free to treat us as equals. We are learning about this publishing business on a daily basis and we don't have a building full of staff working on this magazine. Theres 4 of us myself included so anything you send our way will get personal attention and is taken with importance. That is also why we are always asking for your input and submissions cause I always thought itd be wicked to see my picture or story in a magazine that tons of people read.
OK that is it for now.
Sorry if I went on a bit, its just nice to be able to speak with real people who aren't sales guys or in 'marketing'.

Hi Erika,
nice to see a"wave" of interest gradually building over here in the U.S.regarding RIBs
About time we got some company, as we were feeling a little left out ;especially on the West coast!
So sent an email to the magazine saying Hi and wish you all the best with your endevour.
Nice to see you have a honest ,personable approach to this venture and look forward to reading your magazine;
cheers Dal

You wrote to our company(Henshaw Inflatables) on the 22nd March enclosing two issues of the magazine, which we were very pleased to see. Receipt of the magazines prompted me to post details on this site. We have written to you under seperate cover requesting details on advertising rates etc. Keep up the good work.
