New Subscriber ..... Saying hello
Hello ... Last summer I decided to sell my old boat with a view to buying a RIB and after much research I took delivery of a Ribeye S650 on Feb 19th this year ..... I discovered this site a few months ago and have been able to enjoy the wealth of information offered by fellow RIB owners which has proved invaluable in gaining much knowledge on the subject . For that I am grateful to all the members who post here .... With that in mind I have decided to introduce myself and hopefully will join in the many discussions .

It's pretty much 'anything goes' downstream of the Carew/Cresswell tributaries at Lawrenny. Above this there's a 'dead slow, minimum wash' restriction, but someone told me the marker buoys hadn't been put back as at last weekend.
Handy guide here:

Hey Gossy,
Welcome!....Newport Pembs is one of our regular launch sites.....narrow tidal window, and narrow channel, but they will have put the Lat markers back in by the time you get down. Beautiful coastline too (although i'm very biased)....not sure if you know the area, but there are some nice galleries on our website as a taster if not....
Let us know when you are coming down, might meet you out on the water!

Hi Dan .... I'm fortunate to know Newport Pembs very well ..... My parents live there and I've been going there all my life on hols ...i've got a mooring just upstream from the boat club where i'll put her next week ...... I shall be launching on Monday with luck and heading out for a blast .... its gonna be windy apparantly but the forecast is for an offshore southerly (north easterlies are a nightmare) so I should be ok for some fun .....As you say the coastline is wonderful although over the years we havent ventured too far from newport ...... the farthest north being Cardigan Island and the furthest south being Porthgain ..... however now i've got the new boat with some all singing and dancing GPS ; so i fancy spreading the wings a bit more.... I havent seen your boat in Newport . where do you usually operate from ?
I have just looked through your gallery of pics and notice newport in the background ..... you are clearly making your way downstream from Parrog

We mainly launch out of Parrog for the Environment Agency water sampling....a couple of sites in the estuary itself and a couple out at sea. We also sometimes go from there for diving the Gramsbergen just around Dinas Island....there's also a great reef off Cwm yr Eglwys.....
We will be doing some Cetacean monitoring for Sea-Trust this year, and had hoped to run soem of the time from the Parrog....it's a problem getting people on and off safely /without getting wet unfortunately. However, I understand that the moorings commitee is hoping to get a pontoon installed this year, which would be great!
What colour is the RIB? We've got some dive charters over Easter and will be around your way at some point (weather permitting!)....Alternatively, we will be out on excercise from Poppit with the Lifeboat Sunday am....will keep an eye open for you!

You'll be fine for the meet you have organised. Surely nearly all that could go wrong went wrong on your infamous jaunt out! You learnt a season's worth of things in one trip!!

Succesful day all round by the sound of it.....misspent a fair chunk of my youth in the Golden.....
There are some big sets coming through Cardigan bar at the moment....we couldn't get out if we wanted to....We've just had a shout for a surfer off Poppit, didn't make it, but got to clean the boats afterwards ...so I'm now off to the pub too!
