The other boat you saw wasn't an MTB - its some sort of fast responce boat used during the war to pick up shot down aircraft crews. Theres two of them based in Gunwharf now (available for charter) which have just been restored by the historic dockyard.

I'm not much up on my Naval boats during the War. I'd just assumed it was a restored MTB without the torpedo launchers on it's sides, it kind of looked a little top heavy due to it's narrow beam.
