Newbie "help choosing outboard please"

Hi all
I have been searching the net to find which outboard to put on my recently purchaced ribtec 535.
It currently has a 2t yamaha 115 v4 which is obviously too big and guzzles juice like its going out of fashion.
I would like better fuel econonmy with the minimum of performance loss, the 115 currently pushes the rib along at 40 - 45.
I would be happy to get 30 - 40 fully loaded from a smaller outboard.
I have been looking at yamaha 90s as have seen others with them on, but would go smaller if I could get better economy.
What do you think.

Welcome...;Your Hull isnt really deep so there will be quite a few engines that would do well on that..Whats your budget?
Also need to know the limits of the engine weight and max hp on transom.

The yam 90 is a brilliant engine but not so economical though.. I'm currently doing the same exercise. Need more power than what i have and more econ which steers me in the new F70 direction

Thanks
It does seem to have a shallow hull, the budget would be as close to what I can get for the 115 as poss.
I think the max hp is 90 but the plate on the transom has been cut in half so is missing some info.

I guess the 90 would be alot more fuel efficient than the 115 ( or not )

If your looking for a similar costing to your 115 then the 90 will fit the bill and be more economical as well as the old v4.
The boat will handle better as the 115 is to heavy for your hull and overpowered. With being so far over the insurance would be null and void

Thanks Matt
I had thought about the insurance as I have just found a thread that was posted earlier this year by the previous owner and someone had brought up that fact.

I have seen a late 90s 2t suzuki 65, Is this likely to be under powered ?

RIBase
There are a few 535s for sale just now with everything from Yammie 50hp 4-strokes to 70hp 2-stroke Autolubes. The Suzuki 65hp 2-stroke is an old engine now. It will be quite a difference in power from your V4 if you're still looking for 30-40 fully loaded. Not sure what it'll give you, but no-where near 40mph.

If the boat is plated for 90hp, what about a Tohatsu 90TLDI? They come up from time to time. Again Yammie 90hp is a great engine, but not many for sale.

The new Yamaha F70 is a fantastic engine but I doubt you'll find one second hand. Think they retail new for about £7k+

I think the tohatsu may cost a little to much , I am going to sell the 115 and hopefully not have to add to much to get what i need.
