Newbie Rib Purchases.
It staggers me how often new members find this site AFTER they've bought their often unsuitable ribs.
Surely the smart guy asks those that know the questions before he's parted with his cash, not after?

We have had people buy a boat, then booked a course and during the course have been violently seasick, finished the course sold the boat and lost loads.

About 8 months ago I took up 'Non-Golf' for something to do during the week. I bought my 1st set of 'Non-Golf' bats from a dealer, who offered a lot of advice specific to his stock and my budget, based on what I said I wanted.
About 3 months ago I decided my game was bloody awful. I wasn't improving and I wasn't really enjoying myself.
This time when I went to see him for a new set of 'Non-Golf' bats I went in and said:-
'I now realise that I knew nothing but had an opinion when I made the first purchase. I now know enough to know that I know nothing. What should I have?'.
As a direct result, my 'game' has improved immensely and I'm having a great time. Who'd have known they aren't called 'bats'?!

Hmmm . I knew nothing about rib boats , didn't even know they were called ribs . Did a fair bit of research some of it on this site some not . Studied the market , then went and bought one without running it by anyone on this forum . I still amaze myself how stupidly impulsive I can be . Turns out it was a good buy but only 50% research

No, no nononononoooo. It's 'Non-Golf' and I think the term might be 'paddles'?

Actually I think that you'll find that "Cue" is the correct term.

Well, this is my first post on here, long after I've bought a RIB and even worse, I appear to have the most hated RIB on the board, an Avon Supersport S5.45.
I don't know how I'll be able to hold my head up high on here...

Just change your member details to Osprey, you will be part of the brotherhood then...
The initiation ceremony is a little bit harsh...

What scares me is what search term did you enter into google to generate an image like that?
Or was it from the family album - first day at boarding school perhaps?

I do actually have a Brig as well, though it's not a RIB, it's an old wooden sailing thingy called a Winklebrig, or better known as "that €%#¥>%*+ money sucking hole in the water."
That initiation ceremony looks pretty tame, I don't see any goats or other farmyard "friends" in the photo.

Guilty as charged, yer honour.
Looks like an overweight, sweaty, northern Liberal (now deceased) is about to make an appearance.
