Newquay fishing

Hi chaps, after a ten hour slog yesterday I arrived in Newquay with the new rib! Gonna scope out some launch sites today although I'm sure I'll just end up at the harbour!
Does anyone know any good, easily accessible (boat or land) fishing marks? I'm not leaving without a bass!!!

Hi
There are many places not that far from the Harbour. If it's sheltered water and you don't mind catching Pollock and Mackerel Listery Rock and reef just out to sea towards Towan Head can be good. The other good ground is the Famous Cribber off Towan Head it's a large reef with plenty of opportunity. Further down the coast past Fristal you come to Crantock with Goose Rock at the entrance. The River Gannel flows out past it and again many fish can be caught.
You can cast off the Headlands on the latter two I have meantioned if the sea state is not good for your boat.

I don't know how familiar you are with this area but be very careful in any swell over 2m as the Cribber turns into Britain's big wave surfing spot. In fact any of the areas I have mentioned can have breaking waves in large ground swells.

If you are down over the next 8 days beware that we are coming up to some very High tides where Newquay Harbour will dry out for 1.5hrs either side of low plus a large swell is due in for next weekend. Sorry if you know this already.

If you take a run North, you should be lucky for mackerel just off Aberaeron. You may also see some dolphins.
