Love the colour, at least if the brown stuff hits the fan it gives the rescue services a fighting chance to find it

Yellow is actually a difficult colour to spot when it's rough, orange stands out much better.

I would agree from a boat, but from the air either yellow or orange stand out really well.
Colour is purely a personal choice but the RIB that is for sale appears to be in really good condition (from the photos).

My choice for colour had to be something that stood out in case I was waiting to be rescued (I have always preferred to be a live coward than a dead hero), because at the time most RIBs were orange I did not want 'another orange RIB'.
I had a grey SR4 which was magic but the tubes had to be constantly monitored in sunny weather, but grey I think out of all the colours keeps the best.
The thought of a white boat and me - no we won't even go there (it would end up looking like Steptoe's undies). My other train of thought was if some lowlife did actually steal my RIB it would stand out like a sore thumb!

the rnli conducted tests in the 90's using yellow paint on the then prototype trent and severn class lifeboats, but decided that orange was better for visibility so stuck with it

For a 12 year old rib, I reckon it couldn't have cost much more than that new !!

When diving, an orange SMB sticks out a mile, but the yellow ones are harder to spot if there's any white water at all, which brings us back to Willk's point

Bill Higham would bolt a new OB to that and offer it as a 'package'.

What tubes do you think he would put on? Probably a couple of blow up camp beds held on with a ratchet strap!! But at least it would all be sprayed the same colour
