North West Cumbria Launches

I'm after a bit of local knowledge! Its about the first decent weekend of the year that I'm around so was going to launch out of our usual slip at Whitehaven however some miserable git has decided to put a row of food stalls up for the weekend so the slip is blocked. Other options are at Harrington and the lifeboat slip at Maryport (the marina slip is closed). I haven't used either before and have no idea if they are any good. There isn't a lot of info in boatlaunch.co.uk either. High Tide is at about 9:30am, so not helpful either.

Does anybody have any local knowledge that can help?

How did you get on with these alternative launch sites?
Did you go to Maryport?

I didn't. I called them and they told me the marina slip was out of action as there was a boat being repaired on if for a few weeks. I looked at the old lifeboat slip but it was only useful for a few hours at high tide so we went to ullswater instead. Low speed (just on the plane) but something different. I will stick to Whitehaven whenever possible. The slip is vast and not usually crowded (only seen two other boats use it and they were people we organised to meet). The facilities are really good and there is space in the marina car park for trailers. Being a locked barbour, you can launch at any tide and it is rare that we cant get out even at low tide.

Its not a bad bit of coast so worth a visit.
