norway advice

taking our delta 5.5 over to Bergen by ferry in June for 8 day coastal exploration adventure.

normally we go to shetland / western scotland and islands on similar trips.

our boat is the ex-RIB international delta dash Hugo used for many years. we also use a kayak and 3m inflatable.

we hope the bergen area norway coast is as interesting as shetlands sea caves, geos, cliffs, subterreanean passages... anyone been to norway?

any advice about launching, noise regulations? in fjords, best bits of coastline etc.

regards

pvm

I kayaked up the coast from Bergen some years back , and its not much like Scotland at all from memory . I can't remember any beaches at all untill we reached the top end of (i hope the names are correct )Maloy Island .
I can imagine it being a lot more rewarding In a rib as you cover ground so much faster , In a kayak there were so many long stretches of fairly uninteresting rock coastline that it often became a bit of a chore , and places to land and camp were often hard to find , and we couldn't get hold of a decent map. Those fast ferries coming at you are pretty scary , especially in a kayak
Great friendly people second only to the welcome we recieved In ireland .
Would hate to think how much a pint is now , or the price of fuel , but maybe we have been catching up with price's . Hope you have better weather than we did .

Spent last weekend in Ålesund (Aalesund) north of Bergen we went to Hareid and Ulsteinsvik and surely you can spend weeks cruising and exploring the nature.

One thing for sure the cost of living there is extremely high, felt Iceland was bad enough... but woww.... the Norwegian Kronur escape your pockets as like they get payed for

Go to Lofoten. The worlds most beautiful Islands according to National Geographic (I think it was). But many other nice places also on your way up north, like Hardangerfjorden.

I've been in Norway a couple of times, alas without the RIB.
As Fjordrafting says: the Lofoten and the Hadanger fjords. As if you're in another world!!!
