Not a a frame. Centre pole

Looking at the idea of ditching a frame for a centre pole that will replace all a frame services.

Tie point
Aerial
White light
Somewhere to attach flag

Looking for local craftsmen and or ideas and pictures

Not a a frame. Centre pole

Once made a single mast/ pole for an open fishing boat from a scrap alloy sailing boat mast that we cut down to 4 metres high also used original base/ foot from the yacht to mount it to the floor using bolts & pop rivets to fix it together .
We dident have radar but it gave us a greater height for the vhf radio aerial , nav light ,radar reflector & deck light ,
We also kept the boat hook clipped to the side upright out of the way .
Been oval shaped it Probelly cut down on wind resistance too a bit not that we went more than 8 knots .

I made one for my Porter that is used as a Safety Boat and camera platform. The post gives me something to hang onto whilst snapping and doesn't get in the way of the photo's. It is made from Stainless steel and has LED flood lamps front and rear and the VHF aerial and GPS aerial mounted on it, with a flag pole holder as well. It locates on a spigot on the floor and you just undo a couple of Allen bolts to take it down.

They look very neat, but would rob some boats of the place to bolt on boat box/BDH type containers and for nav lights.

I have the white Nav light on the top of the mast and the red and green on the drivers console In my case i have a large aluminium waterproof box directly behind the mast that has a cushion on the top and is very comfortable to sit on.

Sea dub

Go and see Chris at Seadub, under the itchen bridge in Southampton, just by SWAC, he does some really nice work, done a few things for me in the past and every time I have sent work his way people have always been impressed.

He understands what people are asking for etc etc, normally pretty busy so lead time can be long, but good product, tell him I sent you a I am building up my favours with him... :-)
