Not so Good

I have just been looking at the MAIB site and was sad to see that 3 of the accidents (of 20) being investigated in 05 involve RIBs and one of those was a commercial Rib

Is this rate of accident indicative of the burgeoning RIB scene or a lack of training /experience /care/good luck

your view please

Here my view based on the reports i have seen this year - as i say its my view

1) basic safety not followed, from kill cord to lifejackets to radios,,,the stuff you do on level 2 - dont get me wrong i am not perfect but i do try and check things, my worst item i miss is a lifejacket when launching

2) Rules of the road and understanding

3) What i have seen this year is alot of people getting ribs, many get training some dont

In telcoms we often approch things from the view that human will make errors, thus we try to invent processes that take the avoidable issues out,,,the example i use is a 3 pin plug, it will only go in one way. So maybe before you start an engine you have to do certain checks that try to prevent avoidable issues
