Now thats what I call 'flat calm'
Spent a few days in Scotland last week helping a friend with his new boat - OK its not a rib
Couldn't believe how calm the sea was one day - it was glassy! Never seen that in the Solent. And the depth! well over 500 feet in places - again very different from the Solent - or Channel for that matter.

Clegs... as in horse flies? No, but some unwelcome encounters with giant midges - one evening was like walking out into a snow storm - except the snow bit!

I've seen it flatter than that many a time between Portnaluchaig and Eigg. My brother and I take our family's, and the boats up just about every year for a couple of weeks R & R.

Ahhh memories of sailing the west coat of Scotland in the late 70s
Slightiest of breeze ,Flat calm sea , morning sunshine , thinking about the luminance in the water from last nights row back from the pub
And the faint distant beat of a single cylinder diesel engine from an old wooden fishing perhaps 3 or 4 miles away smell of cooking bacon sandwiches and all of us saying it doesent get much better than this ,,,,, that much one of the lads girlfriends went over the side we thinking she had fallen over when she then said she was daydreaming staring down into the water and it just drew her into it !
