Ocean 6.25 project RIB Hull

Hi all,

I have started work on my Ocean 6.25 project boat, removing the old anit-foul and a brushed on coat of paint above the anti-foul line. I am planning to do all the sanding/anti-foul removal before I replace the floor, so I do sanding and destruction in one phase, painting int he second then refit and finishing in the third.

The tubes are in great condition, so whatever I do it will be with the tubes in situ, rather than removed.

I'm starting on Transom and hull.

There are a couple of previous repairs on the hull and transom which were not particularly well finished, which I thought I would take the time to finish properly. Some have raise edges which I am sanding down to be level with the rest of the hull, but this wears through the gel coat repairs to expose the resin.

In addition, there are a few dents and dings I will be fixing up when I am at it. There is nothing major on the hull, purely small cosmetic dings and bumps.

I want to paint the whole hull when finished to change colour and give a nice finish, but not sure which type of paint/finish to use. Originally I was planning 2pac the hull, but I don't know if this will be suitable to go over both the old gel coat once sanded and keyed and the areas where I have sanded through or performed repairs.

I currently plan to flow coat the floor once replaced, then refit the interior.

A couple of questions:
What type of filler would be best to use on the smaller dings?

Will 2 pac work on the mixed finish materials the hull will have when I am ready to paint?

Do I need to use flowcoat on the floor, or if I am already 2pac painting the hull would this do?

Should I really be flowcoating the hull too, rather than 2pac?

RIBase
You can get (and I might get flamed for this) Plastic Padding Gelcoat Filler, if they are little dings in the gelcoat. If you are painting afterwards, the colour match wont matter.

I've used epoxy on mine to fill dings purely because I'm using it elsewhere on the boat.

I can’t find a link to green king. Just pubs

Is upol safe below waterline or is it similar to p38-p40s which can absorb moisture

Upol fibral is a fiberglass paste that has to be mixed with a hardener. Once it goes off it can be sanded back, just like fiberglass. It’s safe below the waterline
