I've recently completed this for my RIB. So yes, RIBs do belong in the motorboat category. If you use the online application then it gives you the following equation for tonnage ;
Gross tonnage refers to the total enclosed space or internal capacity of the vessel. If you do not know the exact tonnage, please estimate the approximate volume using: (length(m) x width(m) x height(m)) ÷ 4 or (length(ft) x width(ft) x height(ft)) ÷ 100
For height I used 1m as it seemed a bit of a guess on a RIB. Using the distance from the keel to the top of the a-frame seemed wrong.
