Off to Jail they Jolly Well Go

Excellent news for everybody. Hopefully the UK Border Agency and the Home Office will be sending them back to the Motherland at the end of their tenure as a guest of Her Majesty.

Hi Guys,

I hope the irony came across in my earlier post.

Personally, I think they have got off lightly with the length of sentence they received, and the judge should have ordered their deportation on the serving of their prison sentence, i'm just not convinced it will happen.

Even if the government do decide to deport (and i'm not convinced they will) some do-gooder will start a campaign to let them stay. Of course under our current laws they have the right to appeal again and again any decision taken against them all at our expense. I think it would be great to get rid and ban them for ever but I won't hold my breath.

Jake

Lithuania is part of the European Economic Area. So technically the citizens are not subject to immigration control. Their sentence is just 16 months, less than two years and therefore possibly not enough to be deported.

So the rule is:

Prisoners from outside the European Economic Area should be considered for deportation if they are sentenced to at least a year in jail.

Those from within the EEA have to be sentenced to at least two years' imprisonment to be considered for deportation.

But deportation within the EEA depends on the home secretary being able to prove that the individual presents a serious threat to the fundamental interests of society - someone who is likely to commit a serious crime in the future.

A thief is a thief if he's a immigrant why should we pay to keep them here, no matter how short the sentence send the fookers back

Sounds like russian organised crime supplying russian leisure market, 16 month sentence so they'll be out in 8 or less. They may get deported and then they may come back in again cos it's so lovely here...

1000 acre is a bit big, too far to walk with your SA80 and 200 rounds of ammo and the beer!
