Burning oak and coal that my neighbour told me had been in her coal bunker for 30 years and probably wouldn't be much good.

Coal fires smell better than wood fires?
Surely a north/south divide. Don't know which way though>

Had a day off with the children on Thursday..... lots of icicles hanging off the cliffs at Ceibwr, but we all wrapped up warm, sat in the winter sunshine with the beach to ourselves for the afternoon, with a driftwood fire and a picnic..... Love the smell everytime I put on my coat and I love living back home in Pembs
Oh, and a mixture of ash and oak on my fire tonight.....

Mixed with east European gas? I thought we were now a new importer of gas. Plus my gas fire needs electric to run the fan

Don't think it, know it. Glasgow ( Glaasgo ) is as shit as it's meant to be.
That's nee bad thing. It's not pretending to be anything else.........but by the same token it's not to be struck off the "places to visit" list.
'bit like Liverpool was 25 years ago.....Toxteth riots, Degsy etc.,
Still a hole though.

Nothing wrong with Glasgow, you will find some of most friendliest people in world there.
Like all places there are good and bad.
I am not from Glasgow, but I will still defend it...

Well I'm burning local beech in the woodburner at present along with some chestnut I liberated before the local council chipped it to nothing - what a waste!- much cheaper than wacking up the central heating.
Checked the boat today - the sump's frozen solid full of ice - couldn't break through it - hope it won't affect the pump / pipes on the thaw
