I didn't routinely remove my tubes (only once) but had not problems at all with them really. There is a possibility you could get a little water pass through where the transom and tube meet, as there is no seal other than tube on transom, but never experienced anything significant. Refitting wasn't light work but was doable with loads of soapy water.
