Opti oil/ QS 2 st oil.

I discovered a gallon of Quicksilver 2 stroke oil in my garage. How does this differ from Optimax 2 stroke oil? The tank on my boat is 3/4 full with Opti oil, if i chucked the QS oil in with it, would it cause probs?

opti oil is just that opti oil. is it worth all the thousands of pounds repairing a nice engine, due to cheap oil being used

What oil do the racing boys'n girls use in their motors? They are pretty highly tuned and stressed, with some of them making silly power at silly revs.. 340 HP (Flywheel) revving to 9000......

I use Opti oil in the XS200 - woldn't use anything else. I used Castrol Biolube (or whatever they are calling it now) in the XR2, fantastic stuff, but it has different qualities and would never think about putting it through any DFI engine!

To be honest I havn't got a clue! The question is why would you want to? It's made for DFI engines, and whilst it has very similar properties to other 2 stroke oils, it may not mix as well or seperate out or something - I wouldn't want to risk it!

If you have some cheap I'm sure someone will take it off your hands!

Just curious is all..... Used to pre-mix all my strokers (bike), because oil injection used to be a little "unreliable"...

It's real deal Quicksilver stuff not rubbish, but I know what you're saying. Ah well, I'll be ok for a year or two sticking it in the kid's Mariner 2.

Jono
I may be wrong (again) but I don't think the oil gets mixed with the fuel in an Opti. Isn't it injected straight into the bearings? If you pre-mix you will be back to the old lubricate where it touches thing.
A totally different thing to Autolube.
