Opti Powered 5.4
http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/view/BHG157
As titled, probably my dream Searider, I would have ditched the standard console than and done something similar to David Manning's infamous 5.4. Maybe even a 115opti too! Expensive, but its the first searider I have seen on the market with a new tech DI engine.

And with his abusive attitude on the listing, I wouldn't even bother making an offer, I'd likely be called an idiot too. Would he appreciate an offer of £1500 do you think?

'There is a completely genuine reason for sale, bearing in mind the trailer would cost nearly £3000 to place, the electronics about £2500 the boat is in excellent condition, hull undamaged, engine has been serviced including new power trim and tilt hydraulic system, you may know that there is a 20 year guarantee on hypolon Avon boats (not to be confused with other makes) If we can answer any serious questions please do not hesitate to contact us.'
some hope eh!

I remember calling Him earlier in the year for a prop , Iam sure he is listed as a Suzuki dealer .
I can remember a really offhand attitude like It was just too much trouble for him .
And no he wasn't a Cornishman

I asked how old it was and what were the electronics that were worth £2500
Reply Quote
Thanks for your question. The electronics is a Lowrance Global map and plotter and card reader and high definition sonar as to the age its a very good question i would guess approximately 10 years old.
I feel sorry for him to be honest
I think Mollers is right

Out of interest i have been out on a 5.4 Searider all day today. Doing baseline trials for Opti replacements of the currant Mariner 75/90hp 2 stroke.
Done all the 2 stroke trials today, going to put the 75opti on next week and try that, then take it off and put the 90opti on and then maybe try the 115opti just for a laugh!!.
Doing all the usual max speed, acceleration times and then load it up from 200kg to 600 with two people in the boat. And to top it all off it was great weather today!!!

I trust you'll provide a complete report when all is done? What other 2 strokes?
BTW, how in the world do you get to test engines before buying?!?!
Or are you just pulling our legs?

Well, i work for Barrus (Mariner/Mercury UK). Im lucky enough have a job thats also my hobby!.
I do all the commercial trials for outboards and the pre production work on new bulids and refits etc. Its the MoD that are buying the engines luckliy not me!!!
Thats why there all Mariners and no other makes. MoD only use Mariner and Mercury.
