Osprey at Powertech Marine open day

Osprey RIBs will be at the Powertech open day in Northney Marina, Hayling Island on the 11th & 12th of April.

We will have one of our new 6.8 Meter RIBs on the water, fitted with a G2 E-tec 200HO, our new SeaSport console and a host of other updates, available for viewing and sea trials for potential buyers. If you are planning to attend, feel free to turn up on either day, it would help if you can drop us a line to openday@ospreyribs.co.uk to let us know we can expect to see you !...

Just a reminder about the Powertech open day tomorrow and Sunday. Lots of G2 eye candy for anyone who can make it...

Northney Marina, Hayling Island.... See you there :-)

Very nice. Osprey consoles haven't traditionally been a strong point as far as I'm concerned, but that new one looks to be a massive improvement

Couldn't disagree more. I genuinely believe that the Discovery console is the best looking console out there. That's why I'm on my second. It may not be the most practical. Only my opinion of course. ;-)

Couldn't disagree more. I genuinely believe that the Discovery console is the worst looking console out there. That's why I'd never buy one. It is entirely impractical, offers little protection, and there is nowhere to flush mount large plotters. Also, for anyone over 5ft8 you can't stand and drive. Only my opinion of course

I think the new console looks great, a decent step forward from the SeaRider/SeaRanger and really smartens up the looks.

No, not unless it's offset and Gotch, you bought the rib in 'Dog's knob' red, therefore your views on 'looking' can be ignored . :-)

Looks like you can from this pic I think? I would imagine you can, it's just another disadvantage of the old Discovery console that you have to stand on the tubes!

& Mollers, at least it's actually seen the water in the last three years...

Don't be a twat yew twat! You and few others have no idea how often my boats are used as I don't post every detail of every dunking. One of them may've been in today. ;-)

That's as may be, but I still think boats look a lot better on the water rather than stuffed in the back of a barn. Doesn't matter what colour the tubes are if there's a dirty great tarp on top

cracking looking hull/tubes. osprey do make the nicest looking hull/tube combos imo.

not a fan of the rest of it i'm afraid. i guess it is not aimed at the practical boaters market. i.e lack of storage/seating and can't put an aux on the transom. i assume it is more of a drystack toy, which it will probably end up anyway i guess.

however, curious what the engine is like if you have any comments?

cheers

The new console has room to get past without standing on the tubes...

The seating is what we wanted on this particular rib. All the seats are bolted in and can be reconfigured to suit... There's also room for a third row of jockeys if you want the extra seating.

As for the engine... It's perfect. The power steering is a revelation and the torque and performance is outstanding.

Pulled an easy 50 knots on a 4 bladed prop and once the engine is raised a couple of inches (G2s like to run high) 55 knots is expected.

Dry Stack Toy ? guess that's down the the owner and what they choose to do with it !

Chris,

is the steering electric or motor driven hydraulic? i wonder how it will hold up in say 5 years of use...i.e outside of warranty.

cheers
