Arctic 28's cost £130,000 new, not really a rival.

So if someone uses an image without your permission how will you enforce it?

I do not own the images! The copyright holder has authorised the pictures for me to put on the website only. If you want to use them outside of a discussional environment such as this then you need their permission. Not mine. See my post before Martinis, and the one you've quoted. We did contact a family friend knowledgeable in the field before starting the site, so we do know the score if you're actually being serious.

Ok, maybe I didn't make myself clear.
I have done my best to obtain permission to use the photos and other material on the website. But that permission has been granted for the limited purpose of the Osprey Owners website and does not extend to any other use. I have made that clear on the website. So anyone wishing to use the material elsewhere must seek their own permission. I will gladly confirm the source of any photos etc which is not obvious from the website.
To the extent that there is any original thinking on the website, I am not seeking to restrict its use elsewhere save for an acknowledgement as to its source.
I do not have permission to allow people to use the images on the site, but it is not actually my problem if you do, for I do not own them (most of them). If you use them in an inappropriate manner then I will report it to the copyright holder and they will take any action they see fit. If you would like a clarification of what action may be deemed appropriate, then I suggest you contact Peter Moorkens. He runs www.powerboatracing.be, and they have a comprehensive legal section. I am one of the few websites allowed to feature any of his photos.
In light of your comments I will modify the "Boring legal bit" in order to make it more obvious.

AFAIK it should be working fine. Your details have not come through on the confidential email database either. Remember to submit the email addy separately from the boat. They are two separate databases. Also if you press return key at any time, the whole thing gets wiped, and I cannot prevent this. Maybe add a boat called "test" and just put rubbish in the fields to check it works before adding your boat, and if the issue desists I will look into the matter further
Out of interest, the image that Martini has posted I do not have permission to use. So I cannot prevent him from using it, and so it cannot contravene my Ts&Cs.

You don't go for an easy life do you!
The answer is not hard to find: "For the time being, the primary use for this site will be to host details of my upcoming cruises for access by others that are interested in joining me."
And while we are on the subject of intellectual property, I wonder what the MARTINI & ROSSI WINE COMPANY make of martini.je
I am reminded of the huge amount of hassle I had from the British Marine Federation when I set up a web site years ago to help people find transport and accommodation in the area of Earls Court in January. The domain was londonboatshow.info and they went ba-llis-tic! I think it is now operated by an escort agency, which is obviously a much better use for it.

Just dug this up from the original launch of the site. Do you think these sort of things would be useful to add to the database? Or is in danger of becoming over complicated

Well yes, where esle does Martini come from? Surely there would be no word if the company had never been founded?
And sorry. Can't access the site, it's blocked under pornography. Like Keith's was a while back (no joke!)

You made yourself clear but never answered the question first time round.
Disabling right click helps to stop people nicking the photos although if they do want them they will print screen and crop.

They're welcome to make me an offer for it
I wish I could go back 20 years and buy a few domain names
I'd be running a Fabio Buzzi owners association now

I had one of them, and I think I had the masssive ram upgrade too, all of 16kb.
Was that before or after the ZX81? Never had a BBC A (or was it B?) but I remember friends that did. First proper PC I had was in 1989ish. Before some of our forum members were born MSDOS v3 and to think people complain today that they can't understand windows!

Aye, them were the days Think we had a Spectrum before the C64. We had BBc B's at school which rendered them way too uncool for home and branded you a geek! I think once I'd beaten the C64 to death in a rage (prob about a month after purchase) I didn't go near a computer again till 2002 when we got a family laptop. At which point I discovered porn and never looked back

Just a year after a certain Vipermax owner was born

Sadly the host I'm using (1&1) are a little uncooperative. I can't even add code so no embedded vids etc. for the moment at least. Might trial it free for a month, add the code, then see if it stays on. I've had to be a little bit clever to make things work - like gifs for rotating images where using a proper software package would have done it automagically, and splitting the database between boats and email adresses. It's a little fiddly, but I think it's worked. More content coming this week!

I see you have all been having a productive time while I was out bleeding a hydraulic autopilot.
My first 'pooter was a Commodore 64 in '86, Mr Wimpy was a truly bad game! Had two Amigas then, aah the brand loyalty.
Had my first email account (still have it too) in the 90s, back then there were more FTP sites than there were HTTP!
