Voici (unless I get told off for it then I will of course take it down. Although only reproducing a paragraph can surely be overlooked I hope)

We can gloss over the fact that there is no Vipermax 7.5m too

Noted for her "ferocious ability"

Edit: Oh and Emergency info plaque coming soon

Osprey satisfies a whole range of uses, from family craft to dive, race and distance cruising.
So they're "satisfactory" then? Awesome

High praise indeed, but then all us owners knew that already

Exactly. Not to be confused with 'adequate'.

I had a long conversation with Jack about the difference between Ample and Adequate the other week.

As usual it turned into an excuse for him to tell me I eat too much!

And does your beer intake fall into the adequate, satisfactory or ample category? Or all three

I think the result is fantastic and much better than my first attempt. It is already lasered with bolt holes so it can just be mounted with self tappers or bolts.

What do we think?
Very nice, can I put my name down for one please ? Thanks. Mark

Sure, did you get my email reply? You may not have done since I was on the motorway but i did reply to your your message. And this project is currently on hold as my actual GCSE project needs to be built first. Have decided however that I can do better that this one, and will be producing a MKIII. Also as mentioned above I have finished the artwork for a personalised Mayday plaque thing. Similar to the RNLI sticker but with your MMSI and boat name written into it already. I think the best way to do this (as I have had a fair bit of interest) is to buy a sheet of A2 acrylic (black I think since it works with everything) and try and cut the plaques out as efficiently as possible. Should be able to do them very cheaply indeed

Let me have your MMSI, boat name and call sign and I'll do it in five minutes when I have the MKIII design finished. As Pol said, it's too cluttered at the minute so will be redesigned soon

Nope, of course not. If you send what you want along with a clear picture that I can vectorise easily, then I can do whatever you want .

Even combining the mayday and info plaques if you want This will all be for the summer now, need to get my proper project finished first!

Hi mate, I'm still waiting for my MMSI. Boat name is Suzanne and my call sign is 2EFB7. Thanks. Mark

If it's of interest, I laminate the following and stick it onto the consul with double sided tape along with laminates of the call sign, phonetic boat name and MMSI number:

"MAYDAY PROCEDURE

1. Open the cover of the RED distress button
2. Press the RED distress button momentarily
3. If time allows select the nature of the distress (ie fire, sinking, collision etc)
4. Press and hold the RED distress button for five seconds or until the unit tells you that the message has been sent
5. Release the RED distress button. The unit will set itself to Channel 16.
6. Wait 15 seconds or until an acknowledgement of the signal is received.
7. Press the button on the microphone and, speaking slowly and clearly, say:

"Mayday, Mayday, Mayday. This is RIB Grimalkin, Grimalkin, Grimalkin. My MMSI is 235050647. Mayday RIB Grimalkin.

My position is [give position in latitude and longitude from GPS or true bearing and distance from known landmark]

I am [give nature of distress: eg on fire/sinking/swamped/man overboard]

I require immediate assistance.

There are [number] people on board.

Over."

8. Release the button on the microphone."

The laminates fade every 12 months or so but are easy enough to run off the computer and reapply.

A stylish etched format would save the repeat operation however.

Incidentally, Portland CG often ask for call sign when calling in pasages and Solent CG almost invariably do.

Very much of interest actually. I don't suppose it makes a huge difference but I have omitted the RIB bit of "This is RIB Grimalkin, Grimalkin, Grimalkin. This is RIB Grimalkin". I will post the design when it is completely finished for evaluation. Obviously everyone can have what they want but I did debate whether to have a DSC part to it, I couldn't find a very good one though, so with your permission will adapt and use yours please

You're more than welcome to use it so far as I am concerned - I think it covers the necessary, although I've never had to use it (only pan pans!).

I cribbed/adapted it from somewhere several years ago: I can't remember from where, but I don't think it was copyrighted (RNLI or Reeds Almanac with general permission possibly). Please feel free to use/adapt as you wish.

Incidentally, the repetion of the name of the boat (Grimalkin, Grimalkin, Grimalkin etc) is important since it allows the CG to rotate their antenna and 'tune in' to the call. It is an important part of the procedure. Obviously, you don't need to put 'Grimalkin' into each transmission.

The good thing about being able to adapt it rather than just using one of the RNLI stickers is the ability to have your MMSI on it and call sign etc as well as on ours I've put "Lat and Long taken from either top left of Raymarine or by scrolling through the iCommand" (obviously a little more succinctly than that since it only takes up a line of the plaque but you get the idea)
