Osprey Ribs Uk

To all those interested in Osprey Ribs:
I thought it was about time I posted a few details about myself. I started playing with power boats at 16 years old, sold my soul and bought my first boat at 18! Every penny I earned went on fuel and I became addicted to water-skiing and the sea in general. I spent 15 years ski-racing, sometimes driving, sometimes skiing. The boats were usually Phantoms or Rings or in the really early days, Crusaders.

I started to get interested in Ribs about 12 years ago as a really good alternative to hard boats and ended up buying my first Osprey 7 years ago. Simply put it's been the best boat I've ever owned, so when I was given the opportunity approx. 2 years ago to become the U.K. distributor for Osprey I was delighted. I am a true enthusiast, genuinely believe in the product, appreciate that I have still got a lot to learn but will always try to help with advice and give demonstrations to people who are genuinely interested. Over the past few years I have visited Ireland each year, been to the Isle of Man, the Channel Isles and various places along the South Coast and my own local haunts in Cardigan Bay. I spend many hours skiing on the beautiful estuary at Barmouth. My most recent trip was to Ireland to watch the motor cycle road race at Skerries, just north of Dublin - an absolutely fantastic event if anyone is interested for next year! I've posted a few pictures of this trip.
My next plan is to change my boat for a Vipermax 7.5, with the new 300 Evinrude E-tec, having tried recently the 7.0m with a 250, I reckon it should be absolutely fantastic. I will try to keep everyone posted. Very many thanks to all those people who have purchased boats from us and for all the interest that people have in Osprey Ribs.
Should anyone in Ireland be reading this, Gerry O'Neil (Blufin) is able to supply fully fitted out boats, fitted out very professionally by himself, who is also a dedicated and very knowledgeable, enthusiast. We have supplied several boats to him already and believe having somebody across the water is very advantageous to ourselves and our customers.
Happy ribbing to everybody, please keep in touch!
Roy Bishop

The grass always looks greener on the other side doesn't it. I know people may be envious of us in the Channel Islands having France so close, but it must be great to be able to get across to Ireland as well. We may have the French lifestyle to go and enjoy, but the scenery isn't as dramatic as you have on your doorstep.

300 i think, Ged is the man to ask hes good buddies with Liverpool Powerboats who are a big E Tec Dealer, interesting to see our BRP are running things since they too over from Jets Marivent, they have stopped supplying all their OEM boat builders and no they have to buy through the dealers.

The new etec 300 is based on the 250 etec it has been tuned to 300hp with a new exhaust system, to get the emmisions within the new rules. It will come with new electronic dials similar to the lowrance dials, no price is set yet but will be around other 300hp engines. Ian at Liverpool Powerboats has already taken orders (included is mine ) as the 300etecs will at first be in short supply as most will be shipped to the yanks.
If anyone is intrested in one, PM me and I will keep you informed as soon as they are in stock or call Ian at Liverpool powerboats......

Is it true they are 3.6L instead of 3.3? I was hoping they would bring something out with a bit more ooomph - say about 330 or 350.

Can't remember the guys name I spoke to at Ribex, but he insisted it wouldn't change the OEM discount structure at all - just the way it was delivered!

I have an appointment with the BRP representative next week - when I will be ordering my own engine - yes I believe it is 3.6 litres and as soon as I have more details I'll let everyone know.

As I'm sure most enthusiasts now realise, BRP, who are the manufacturer of Evinrude outboard motors, have taken over the U.K. distributorship from Jets Marivent. During the interim period every distributor has had to reapply and we are of course no exception. It is now business as usual - we are an official OEM distributor - and anyone wishing to purchase an Osprey from us with an Evinrude engine can do so at a very competitive price.

I hope this clears up this matter but please don't hesitate to ask us directly if there are any further queries.

Roy
