Osprey XR18 advice needed please

Hi all

I recently came across what I think is an Osprey XR18 and was wondering if anyone has first hand experience of these boats. I've searched the forum and they seem to have been built between 1992-1998 and were a shortened version of the XR24, which may have affected handling.
I'm curious as to whether they were bad hulls. If it helps the one I've seen has a 115hp Optimax fitted.

Never been in one but always liked them. My mate used to race the 24 and loved it, I believe the same hull might be related to the lynx. I believe it is a warped hull design similar to a scorpion or delta conic with a narrow beam. So you I’d presume it should be good in a rough sea but it is a guess based on my mates racing experience. The osprey guy at rib show told me the lynx was a drivers boat. You hold on and push through anything but it does need respect and commitment.

There’s a guy on boat mad who had an xr with cossie engine. It was very fast, try trawling boatmad

Cheers, I hadn't thought of looking on Boatmad. I did a little more research on here and it seems the early XR18 hulls went through some modifications, the flooding hull design was abandoned and a planing pad added as the delta conic form didn't work well with the shortened hull. I wonder if the modifications worked.
