Ouboard lock

My insurance broker has told me I need to get a lock for my outboard. Suzuki DF140 bolted through the hull. I'm looking at the 'Pacific' or 'Volcano' from Outboard Motor Locks. Any thoughts or recommendations? Thanks.

I’ve got a couple of volcanoes on mine. Seem ok, satisfy the insurance. Keep them well greased & they unlock ok.

+1 for the Volcano.

When's all said & done as long as it meets the insurer's requirement that's all that's needed. If someone wants the engine badly enough they'll get it.

My be worth getting a tracker - or at least labels stating engine's fitted with a tracker if you're concerned - it may deter a thief.

Also perhaps have Datatag as well.
Highly visible and easy to apply.

https://www.datatag.shop/compass-sys...d-motor-system

For outboards, a one off fee £39.99, you paint/stick the fluid/patches on the motor. Register it with them and when you come to sell, just change registration over.

I have the slot lock and a bolt lock from outboard motor lock and they're fab, need a bit of lube every now and then but they're a lovely chunk of stainless and not going anywhere in a hurry

Any idea where I can find instructions on how to install one of there?

I got one recently and I want to make sure that its installed 100% correct, to comply with insurance.

Instructions that came with it were terrible.
