Outboard engine mounting question

Afternoon all,

I need to remove an 80hp Yamaha 2 stroke outboard from 1988 and replace it with a fairly recent 80hp Yamaha 4 stroke outboard which I do not have access to yet.

Does anyone know if the mounting brackets/ bolt pattern are the same? I mean, will the current holes in the transom match or will they have to be filled and new holes drilled?

Has this been standardised between manufacturers? Never checked.

Cheers.
