Outboard help please

Ok, so I've bought my first rib. 1997 Valiant V400. It came with a Mercury 30hp 2stroke. The rib is good. The engine runs perfectly . But this doesnt look right to me. And it's chucking a fair amount of water into the boat. Although i have a 12v bilge pump.

Advice welcomed 👍

I can see video ok. That splash and untidy wake looks like an Aerotec at its worse before mods are made to lift the outboard.

I’d be looking to see if outboard is in too deep as well as considering boat’s trim due to loading as well as the outboard’s trim setting.

I'm glad you've mentioned the outboard being to deep. Once i had the setup in the water i thought the cavitation plate sat very deep. There's also a chunky bracket that holds the outboard away from the transom.

Is it by chance a longshaft on a short transom with jack plate partially compensating?

I think you are bang on the money. I've limited knowledge of sibs and ribs. I did think the shaft was long when i bought it but stupidly presumed that was because it wasn't a sib 😥

So my options. Live with it. Buy a short shaft and Dutch l ditch the Jack up plate. Or ?
