Sad sight - but my advice would be to cut out Salterns entirely - try and deal directly with their insurers and /or the loss adjusters.

Repair costs I am sure will be more then 2/3 of the hull value . ( I assume it was their trailer ? ) .

My 'feeling' is they will 'deflate' the repair costs to ensure its not written off - then inflate the warranty repair costs ( which I assume gets passed back to manufacturer? ) then fix it as cheaply as possible and hand it back you ......

Pretty poor service from Salterns ! I'm sure that they could do a bit to hurry this job up. Had similar issues with NFU and a Range Rover 13 months old. Ended up with salvage value & payment in lieu of repairs as I wasn't happy with their proposed 'repairs' !!

You only pay excess if the other person is not liable... ...don't you? I'd speak to your insurer and ask them what the score is if you want a temporary boat. If someone crashes into my car and admits liability it doesn't matter if I have 'free courtesy car' on my insurance I expect the liable party to provide a temporary replacement, and to be clear that isn't a lupo. So I'd expect the same in boat world - you mess about with repair etc I expect a loan RIB. That could be pricey for them and will focus the mind...

Signs, web addresses, solicitors, trading standards come later...
