Seriously contemplating moving up to a pacific or arctic 22.
Always loved and wanted one since i was a kid.

I’ve seen a pacific 22 converted to outboard, does anyone have any real world experience with one that has been converted from inboard to outboard ?
Boat in question has a 250hp suzuki on the back.

There's a couple of Arctics for sale plus a post from a chap doing one up. He might be worth a PM.

I think I'd buy an Arctic rather than trying to convert a Pacific.

I briefly owned (but never took to sea) a Pac22 converted to outboard. Had a 150 Mariner on the back. They are easily converted. I wouldn't have thought it would cause any issues - the Pacific and Arctic hulls are identical. In fact I would think an outboard would probably give you more useful performance over the slow 160hp Mermaid found in the original Pacs - spent many hours at the helm of a diesel powered one which was somewhat sluggish and lumbering.

The rib with tubes will be 8'6" wide, towing needs a bit of caution but the arse end of a Delta isn't exactly slim either.

This particular vessel has had lots done, the owner spent a small fortune doing so,
Apart from tubes and original internal structure of course every thing was replaced

Well, after a 15h round trip i now own that very boat.

Need to do some work on the trailer and also the transom as its got some flex in it and the fibreglass has broken in places

Sure it's not just cracks in gel coat? That's well built that back end having said that it was 4 years ago no idea what abuse it's had Since then

Sadly its not, whole transom is flexing.
Not an issue though, been fixing boats since 2003

In the attached pictures of a couple of Arctic 22's which I stole from the internet, there are brackets on the forward side of the transom. These are for a twin engine set up but you could do something similar for a single engine.

Each of the attached pic's have different arrangements although the concept is the same.

I'm guessing this is just down to either evolution of the design at Halmatic or an end user modification during a refurb.

It would be interesting to see your current set up.

I give up trying to add pictures from my iphone.

The general plan is similar, temporarily i’ll be folding some 3mm stainless up as a sandwich plate and bolt it to the deck along with welding gussets in.

Over the winter i’ll cut the back section of deck out and add knees direct to the stringers underneath.
Then fibreglass the whole lot back up, that sort of triangulation will stop the bugger from moving around.

There is a lot of load (static weight plus acceleration due to slamming) and the transom is acting as a cantilever particularly as the ends are cut away to accommodate the tubes.

In plan view the top edge of the transom acts as a beam with a couple of point loads on it from the outboard fixing bolts restrained by your gussets / knees. If it's the same as a Pac 22 transom, you might want to put a bit of angle or similar across the top of the transom to take these loads.

Sort of yes, i’m a marine engineer by trade.
Just folded up some 3mm 316 to suit the transom profile both external & internal. All one piece so will be very strong by the time its bolted through the transom and to the deck.

This will do for now until i have to time to fibreglass in some knees to the stringers to spread the loadings back up the boat
