That was the idea to start with but the boats at the front had to row the furthest to the start and were probably the slowest boats anyway so it wash't long before the faster, less tired boats came pushing through and then it was a bit of a free for all, we then just kept an eye out for anyone that needed help.
They all pretty much behaved themselves, from where were were, apart from the australians who came charging through out of control and clouted my engine with an oar - was not happy when I saw a nice big scratch at the back.

Probably got it on video, the poor sod with the oar looked really sheepish but it wasn't his fault, he couldn't see!! it was the helm I had a polite word with.
This one has a few of us in, great photo but not can't seem to embed it. Will gave me the ideal of hunting through FlickR, well worth doing.

A little late in the day, but I thought that these were worth sharing. One of my crew for the day is a little handy with a camera. There is no audio, and I have left all of the 'character' shots in, from the lane where I b------d the boat trailer brakes, through launching at Putney embankment, to signing on, and then back to Putney to cover the launching of the dragon boats etc. and hence through to the main event. Finally, some shots of the safety boats (us!) making our way back to Putney.

Excelent, we were in it as pageant participants so missed all the coverage, pants by all reports, sounds like the Beeb just got a tad carried away with the dumbing down and trying to be hip with the kids. The pageant was basically normal people turning out to honour the queen and have a good day/weekend out. Similar story with all the volunteers who effectively "worked" that day - all the safety cover from this forum.
Well done one and all, a credit to the nation I say!

They showed a couple of clips of the anti Monarchy demons(traitors) me thinks they should have been arrested and sent to the tower to be beheaded
