Parker 630 Rib arriving April

Hi there everbody.

As you are all aware I am new to this forum and just finding my way around the site. I have just placed an order Via Andre for my new Rib which I believe is to arrive in the UK during April.I have taken the plunge into the world of Ribs as a result of my work in the RNLI.I currently serve at Sheerness lifeboat stationas mechanic / crew on the All weather Trent Class lifeboat and of course I cover the inshore inflatable D class lifeboat. It is as a result of using this boat in the worst conditions mother nature can throw at a person that has created an interest in Ribs. I can post some pretty exclusive and exciting pictures on this site should anyone wish to view the craft used by the RNLI including the prototypes not yet in service and currently undergoing trials at poole and various locations around the UK> As a result I have just disposed of My proline 2950 american sportsfisherman which was equipped with twin 250 efi mercury outboards. Economy was always an issue with many a trip out costing in excess of £600 a day in fuel !!!! . It is with this in mind plus the optional ability to use this craft for extended cruising of the Thames esturay from london down to the North Foreland and part of the east coast that i made a plunge to purchase a new Parker 630 with the inboard Mercrusier . The engines renowned economy without any performance sacrifice should see a far less painful sunday afternoon jaunts !. I have specified the craft for my particular useage as it will also be used for additional training of crew members in their own time to gain sea saftey and navigational skills.I hope to equip the craft with the latest electronics from raytheon as well as simrad .I guess I will eventually meet up with some of you guys in the future and look forward to contributing to this forum. On a seperate note if anybody wishes to know more about the RNLI in any way shape of form then please feel free to e.mail me.

have a nice weekend all...........

David

ABCs and Safety Pins...

Safety warnings for us ribsters are always helpful...back to ABC is fine for novices like ourselves...

You'll probably get moved to the commercial section tho' when JK comes up for air!!!!!!!

Its a good job we dont get there after all most of the information we get is wrong...................................

D class normally hangs back and waits for the stand down. Cannot balme the jumpers too much its a depressing place......

Re parker I guess it will make it there a lot quicker but the big bonus is we wont be goverened by channel 0 or 31 with up a bit down a bit no over there ..................

I suppose it depends on who is controlling what is going on especially with LCG bleeding over everything we try to do on "0"

Medway Mobile ?

I guess we could debate the whole issue of SAR in the medway but I would guess a sabaticle from rescue co- ordination and its
operational capabilitys would be best left off this forum case we offended one and other , I guess we must have worked together at some time ?

On a seperate note though Trent can get under especially on low water springs and at 23 knts with squat it would clear with no problems getting back is a different matter !!! especially once tasked to searching for a twig in the water up by cuxton...............

Question on SAR

Hi babygoodsdir01

Welcome to the forum. From personal experience you will have a great time in your new Parker Rib. IMHO a very good long distance cruiser and very cheap to run. I look forward to seeing the pictures.

I have just been given as a present a Personal Locator Becon from London International Dive Show, Transmitts on 121.5Mhz once activated.

Question Have you ever used/experienced one of these before? and will SAR be able to find me if I have to use in earnest?

Any thoughts most welcome.

Regards
