Patches to an Avon Rover 311

Hello,
I wondered if anyone could help me with a couple of queries ?

I have an Avon Rover 311 with a hard hull quite old and wondered what material it will be made of ?

Also reason for this is because it has a very slow leak about 1/2" long slit where it looks like someone has been careless trimming a small loose bit of seam and i want to cover it with the right patch using the right glue.

Sorry bit of a novice. All the best, Colin.
