patching pvc

hi,im in the middle of repairing my 3metre valiant rib,ive patched one small hole with no problems, the problem ive got is the other repair is in a bit of an awkward position(underneath and near the transom),ive tried to apply patch with tube deflated and ended up with a crease under the patch so ive had to start again, can i apply the new patch with the tube semi inflated so i can eliminate the crease, then once the patch is in place deflate the tube and apply pressure to the patch.
thanks in advance
Andy

A couple of things for you to try, use super glue to tack the edges together to keep them aligned while you make the proper repair or stitch the edges if necessary to align them.
