having just posted to about 6,822,000,000 punters according Wiki which is the worlds population as at 20th May 2010 ... I'd say her chances of discovery would be at best .. good .. that said our imperious dictator assumes ribnet is beamed into the home of every one of those sad punters and thankfully that isnt the case can you imagine how many people feeling the urge to drill holes there would be ?

Alternative to owl - Snakes
My buddy has a 24 ft hard top cruiser that was constantly getting seagull payloads delivered all over the 'glass and canvas. Tried the owls, but the gulls were not deterred. Someone told him to try rubber snakes. He got a couple and laid one on the bow and another on the hardtop. Result - no more seagull crap. Counter-intuitive, but apparently Canadian gulls are afraid of snakes. Maybe their Brit cousins feel the same way. These snakes lay in a coil about 10 inches in diameter.

Well, I have tried coiled snakes, whirly round-and-round thing on top of the boat, singing wire, flags and all these in combination on a sub-9m boat.
Each works.....for about a week.
Then the pesky critturs get used to them and poop all over your boat.
Indeed I was pasiing the boat the other day and I saw a seagull sitting (if thats the right word) on the engine box, between two flags, underneath the whirly thing and between two lengths of singing wire.
I give up and just go and powerwash the boat every couple of days-oh, and before you ask, my tubes are also coated with some slippery stuff that has no effect either.
Haven't tried the owl yet. Do you reckon it would make a diference???
