Hi Jezza
The plain answer is yes, I have seen boats parked less than 100mtrs from Mt Batten breakwater, I think the best place to view is just inside the main breakwater, you don't end up with a crocked neck looking up.

Hi bit late now the exclusion zone was 150 metres to the south and west and 200 metres to the north, we were on the edge of the zone on the north probably the closest boat that side, fantastic view. One silly bugger off out fishing decided to drive straight through the exclusion zone without a care in the world and the police RIB was on him within about 5 seconds

Awesome display last night. Came up from Falmouth by road after Red Arrows pulled out at the last minute. My first time at the Plymouth Firework Championship. Parked at Lockyers Quay and walked round past the Aquarium and stood in front of Rockfish. Amazing view and no hassles. Crowds just seem to be absorbed with no grief. Really quick and easy to get out of the city at the end. Highly recommended.
