One of my materials of choice but it’s still plywood based. I don’t know how well it would take a staple through the facing.

You'd need a proper upholstery gun, as far as I'm aware it's one of the best grades of plywood with no voids, my bunks are buffalo no sign of delamination

Most of them require constant maintenance to keep them that way, many are triggers broom, and often long lasting wood on boats is very expensive specialist wood like Teak.

There are tools made from flint that are thousands of years old but that still hasn't stopped us from making forward progress.

Buy your special board, Then buy your special staple gun and special staples (Stainless of course), wonder if they will hold.... Then wonder why you didn't just stick to ply that will most likely out last the upholstery anyway.

The Americans spent millions of dollars perfecting a Pen that would write in almost zero gravity in space.... The Russians just used a pencil

You can get extra thick board used for creating the boxes at the ends of soffit and fascias. Must be 12mm thick the offcut I have left over in the garage. Maybe 500mm width it doesn't come in long lengths.

Might well work and cheap as chips in comparison.

Except they didn’t - it’s an urban myth - both used pencils at the start but it’s a poor tool in zero gravity as tiny bits of “lead” float around when you break them. A private company developed a solution (not NASA) which both The US and the Russians quickly adopted.

don't know if the board is strong enough but you could use the nails they use instead of staples just take the plastic bit off they don't pull out easy

I got mine from a local manufacturer of upvc windows and doors (they don't fit them) who have a trade counter. See who's in your area.

If you're going to use staples, use monel staples, not stainless.
