Polishing stainless steel

I have a SS A frame. It was not finished with a polished surface. Is it possible to polish this surface to a mirror type finish (chrome type finish) at home using special tools/ polishes, grits etc?

If so is it very hard work?

Will I need to remove the A frame from the Rib?

See attached photo for a section of the A Frame (it currently has what I would call a Matt, wire brush type finish)

yes to all 3 questions, it's a lot of work though, you might want to take it off and give to a polisher

Very difficult to do, post fabrication. If it was polished when it was a straight tube then easy, just have to polish the joints etc after. So as Biffer says, yes, yes and yes. I believe theres a few specialist polishing firms around your island, no harm in asking them for a quote

Hello,

I dont know if its available in UK but this product is incredible and it brings that miror finish back (as long as it was originally). We are selling those by the cases : http://www.blyachting.com/nettoyeur-...nevr-dull.html

We are specialized in sailboats but a lot of car tuning and motor bike entusiasts come in our store only for this products.

The grit wheel/belt used must start off course to remove marks and dints and scratches, then a finer grit wheel/belt, then finer again, etc, then buffing using polishes and lap... It can be done at home with a polishing tool, but a lot of work... a real lot....

Could it be cleaned and chrome plated?????
